Milk purchase prices, purchase prices
Milk purchase prices are rising, but risks are holding back the industry's development

A contraction in the supply of raw milk, combined with high demand for milk protein, sets the stage for further increases in purchase prices in Ukraine. At the same time, the impact of the war, high production costs, a lack of funds for modernization, and the risk of infectious disease outbreaks are intensifying the pressure on dairy farms.

In early October, the average purchase price for Extra Grade milk stood at 16.60 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), an increase of 1.00 UAH compared to the previous month. Prices for this grade at the farm level range from 15.90 to 17.20 UAH/kg (excluding VAT). The lower end of the price range has risen by 1.10 UAH, while the upper end has increased by 1.20 UAH compared to the second half of last month.

Higher Grade milk costs an average of 16.20 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), which is 0.75 UAH higher than in the previous month. Prices for Higher Grade range from 15.40 to 16.70 UAH/kg (excluding VAT). Compared to the first half of last month, the lower end of the price range has increased by 0.80 UAH, while the upper end has risen by 1.00 UAH.

The average price for Grade I milk was 15.65 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), which is 0.95 UAH higher than in the previous month. The minimum price at farms was 15.00 UAH/kg, while the maximum price was 16.00 UAH/kg. Both the lower and upper ends of the price range increased by 1.00 UAH.

Accordingly, the weighted average price for three grades stood at 16.40 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), which is 1.00 UAH higher than in the previous month. Compared to October 2025, the price of milk decreased by 0.70 UAH.
