dairy export, raw milk prices
Dairy export is driving up raw milk prices

High demand for raw milk, driven by increased exports and rising prices for milk proteins, is supporting an upward trend in purchase prices in Ukraine. In November and December, the price of Extra Grade milk could reach 17.00−17.50 UAH per kg, while new changes to quality requirements may intensify competition among producers.

In early October, the average purchase price for Extra Grade milk was 16.20 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), an increase of 0.90 UAH compared to the previous month. Farm-gate prices for this grade range from 15.20 to 16.50 UAH/kg (excluding VAT). Both the lower and upper ends of the price range have risen by 0.70 UAH compared to the first half of the previous month.

The average price for Higher Grade is 15.60 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), an increase of 0.60 UAH compared to the previous month. Prices for this grade range from 15.00 to 16.00 UAH/kg (excluding VAT). Compared to the first half of last month, the lower end of the price range has risen by 0.50 UAH, while the upper end has increased by 0.60 UAH.

The average price for Grade I milk was 15.20 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), an increase of 0.70 UAH compared to the previous month. The minimum price at farms was 14.50 UAH/kg, while the maximum was 15.50 UAH/kg. The lower end of the price range rose by 0.90 UAH, and the upper end by 0.70 UAH.

Accordingly, the weighted average price for three grades was 16.00 UAH/kg (excluding VAT), an increase of 0.90 UAH compared to the previous month. Compared to October 2025, the price of milk decreased by 1.30 UAH.

Purchase prices rose in early October amid high demand for raw milk in Ukraine, driven by increased dairy product exports. September was a standout month for dairy exports, with nearly 1,500 tonnes of cheese shipped abroad and the dairy sector’s share of Ukraine’s total exports reaching 10.8% for the first time (against the backdrop of declining crop product exports). Reduced cheese imports, caused by regular russian strikes on logistics infrastructure, are setting the stage for further increases in raw milk prices in Ukraine.
