Ukrainians will get cheaper and better milk due to the procuring and sales chains

Procuring and sales chains in rural areas will provide farmers with a steady income. The government plans to develop this strategy over the next few years within the initiative «Native Village». Thus, it is planned to start with the collection and distribution of milk and then expand gradually the range. It was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food during his working trip to the Crimea.

«We began to discuss the initiative of social and economic development „Native village“ last year in all regions of Ukraine. Today, we know the economic sense of this project and the mechanisms of its implementation. Thus, the economic basis of the initiative is procuring and sales chains that we have to expand over several years in rural areas throughout Ukraine,» said the Minister.

Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said that it will be organized «Agricultural products sales units». We will start with milk sales and then gradually expand the range. Such experience has been launched in Volyn region.

«This form of work will give the opportunity to the peasants and farmers to increase the purchase price. For example, in Volyn region the purchase price of milk at the processing plants is on average 2.25 UAH per litre. When cooperatives procure and sell milk the price is 3.5-4 UAH», said the Minister.
