Ukrainian grain crops are actively purchased by EU countries
The biggest share of grain crops is exported to the EU. In 2012, 7.7 tons of grain were exported to the EU markets on the amount of 1.9 billion USD. Egypt and Saudi Arabia remain the leading countries of Ukrainian grain import. This year Ukraine plans to develop markets and increase export shares. This was informed by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.
«The previous year was extremely successful for Ukraine concerning strengthening at the foreign markets. So, we have provided not only food security of the country but an image of a reliable partner. It proves the fact that national grain crops are actively bought by European countries which 5 years before had been hesitant about its quality. In 2012, EU bought 7.7 million tons of crops on the amount of 1.9 billion USD and became the biggest Ukrainian grain importer», the Minister emphasized.
Egypt occupies the second place of the national grain crops import. It bought 5.5 million tonnes of grain on the amount of 1.4 billion USD last year. The third place takes Saudi Arabia with 1.9 million tons of crops exported on the amount of 509 million USD.
Speaking about sunflower oil, Ukraine remains the leader in its trade in the world. The share of our country is 50% at the global market. In addition, Ukraine ensures almost 13% of world corn export, and occupies the fourth place. As for the wheat export, we are the 8th, and barley export gives us the 4th place.
