For six months 2010, the export of milk and dairy products from Ukraine has increased almost by 30%.

The Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine informed that 11.2 million tons of milk will be produced in Ukraine by the end of the year, while domestic consumption will not exceed 9.1 million tons.

The export constituent of milk and dairy products is growing in the country, and during the first semester 2010 it has increased by 30%. Almost 1.7-2.0 million tons of milk in the form of cheese and other dairy products will be exported, the Minister said.

Ukraine’s basic export dairy product is hard cheese exported mainly to Russia. Supplies of this product to Russia are attractive for Ukraine due to higher prices for cheese in Russia as compared to domestic ones.
