Ukraine accelerates corn export. Thus, domestic farmers have already exported 3.4 million tons of this crop. The increased export is possible due to the successful harvest completion. In particular, it has been threshed 24 million tons of corn. This culture remains the main export one and the farmers are going to increase its production by irrigation restoration in the South of Ukraine. It was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.

«The corn export volumes are gradually increasing. Thus, the pace of shipments in November was also accelerated. It has been exported 3.4 million tons. In general, it is planned to export 17.7 million tons of corn this marketing year,» said the Minister. According to Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the active work in the fields helped speed up the export. In general, farmers have already collected 24 million tons of corn from 81% of the planted areas. This year the harvest will reach 30 million tons.

«This is a significant index because corn is the main export culture. According to the UN forecasts, Ukraine will have increased its export by 34.5% by 2020. Thus, this year we managed to achieve higher yields of corn. However, it is necessary to increase yields in the South to realize such potential.

To do this, we are working to restore irrigation systems», said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk. The Minister also said that the Ministry continued to develop new markets for domestic corn in Asia, Africa and the Middle East due to the increased import of it by these countries.
