Ukraine can learn from Lithuania's experience in the field of organic production and standards of quality and food safety.

Taras Kutovoy said that Ukraine is interested in cooperation with Lithuania on many issues. But first and foremost they are the issues of quality standards and food safety and problems in the field of organic production.

This was stated by the Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Taras Kutovoy said during the meeting with the Minister of agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania Bronyus Markauskas in the framework of the global forum on food and agriculture, which takes place on January 20−29 in Berlin (Germany).

«We hope to continue the cooperation between our countries in the context of many issues. First of all, it is the issue of standards of quality and safety of food products, issues in the field of organic production. These themes are among those that the Government has identified as a priority for us for 2017. And now we are actively working on them, attracting European experience», — said Taras Kutovoy.

The Lithuanian Minister said he was ready to cooperate in the exchange of information and transfer of Lithuanian experience, round tables and training seminars for Ukrainian specialists on the issues of harmonization of national legislation and implementation of the rules of the EU law in the field of food safety.

Such areas of cooperation as the issues of European integration, the support of family farming, veterinary medicine and phytosanitary, the fishing industry, science and education are of great importance.

Also during the meeting, Taras Kutovoy congratulated the Minister of agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania Bronyus Markauskas with the recent appointment.
