This year funding in the state budget for anti-epizootic measures of the State service of Ukraine on food safety increased twice — from 56 to 113 million UAH. This was stated by the Chairman of the State service of Ukraine on food safety and consumer protection Vladimir Lapa.

According to him, last year there were certain difficulties with the implementation of anti-epizootic measures in Ukraine. For example, there were problems with the availability and procurement of vaccines for vaccination of animals against rabies.
 
"We are started the process of vaccination of pets against rabies in the second half of last year. Now, I would say, it is restored", — said Vladimir Lapa. 

Not less important component of carrying out anti-epizootic measures is the appropriate budget funding. In 2016 only 56 million UAH was provided for anti-epizootic measures and participation in the International epizootic Bureau.
 
"For comparison: such a small country like Macedonia, last year, spent four million euros only on the fight against nodular dermatitis. You can compare the scale of financing. It is clear that without the availability of an effective vaccine it is difficult to fight diseases. By the way, this year, the funding is doubled: from 56 to 113 million UAH. It is much less than we need, but it is positive, though not a very easy step, taking into account  the present situation with the budget", — said Vladimir Lapa
