The production of cheese products in Russia has increased by 12.5%

 

In Russia in 2017 for the first time there is a growth of production of dairy products. For the period January-September of 2017, there was produced 24.3 million tons of milk.

«This is the result of an increase of grant support to farmers engaged in dairy cattle breeding, proper organization of feeding and housing of livestock, and systematic work on improving the productivity of animals in the regions «, — consider in the Ministry of agriculture.

In particular, in January-August of 2017 the production of cheese products increased by 12.5%. According to the Ministry of agriculture, for eight months of 2017 there was made 120 thousand tons of cheese products.

The volume of cheese production grew by 4.1% compared to 2016. In January-August of 2017 there was made 307.2 thousand tons of products.

«Over the past few years, there has significantly increased the consumption of milk-containing products in Russia. The main reason for the increasing demand for cheese products is saving. Price is one of the most important factors in the selection of products," — said the Deputy Chairman of the Association «Rusprodsoyuz» Dmitry Leonov.

According to «Rusprodsoyuz», today the share of cheese products in the domestic cheese market is about 25%.

Also, according to Rosstat, in Russia there began to produce more butter. For the first eight months of 2017 enterprises produced 182.5 thousand tons of this product — 7.2% more than in the same period of 2016.

In October, the import of butter from foreign countries has increased by 43% — from 9 thousand tons in January — early October 2016 to 15.9 thousand tons in January — early October 2017.

The Association «Rusprodsoyuz» explained that the increase of butter production is a result of the growth of its consumption among the Russian population.

According to the Ministry of agriculture the consumption of milk and dairy products in Russia per capita in 2017 is 233.4 kg at rational norm of 325 kg. In the Department they believe that the availability of high-quality domestic raw materials will allow to further increase the production of dairy products.
