The introduction of the HACCP system will prevent the production of counterfeit

 

Some domestic manufacturers are not interested in introduction of quality control system of foodstuff HACCP. This was stated by Executive Director of «Consumers Union of Ukraine» Maxim Nesmiyanov.

He explained that dishonest businesses prefer super profit from counterfeit to quality products.

«The HACCP system is really effective. It suggests that the manufacturer is responsible of his products at all stages. The manufacturer monitors how the products are sold. At each stage there are critical points where should be the indicator that tracks the quality of product security. But in fact the manufacturer himself is not interested to be brought to light. Everything here is about money, the HACCP system is very good, but it can prevent some entrepreneurs from getting serious earnings from the counterfeit. The system goes down the drain due to presence of some enterprises at the market that stir things up and produce counterfeit», — said the expert.

M. Nesmiyanov also noted the importance of the participation of regulatory bodies in the process of implementing of HACCP.

«In Ukraine there are manufacturers that have implemented HACCP. There are even supermarkets, which gradually shifted to this system. I will tell you from the practice — over there changes can be seen at a maximum of 10%. Because no one controls the safety of food products, there is a lot of counterfeit on the market, and it is the task of the state, which today withdrew from the control. Here we have: a new facade, that is new legislation, but inside — the old Soviet «Khrushchev-era» apartment», — he said.

We will remind, according to Deputy Sergey Trigubenko, to adapt to the requirements of HACCP Ukrainian food manufacturers have a year and a half.

«Almost in every region there are already enterprises of the food industry, that has introduced the international system of food safety management. The leader is, probably, Ivano-Frankivsk region — there about 40% of enterprises are already working in accordance with the HACCP system. In Kirovograd region, this percentage reaches roughly 25%. The worst performance is in Vinnitsa region — 10%, Volynskaya region — less than 10%. In Odessa region, if I'm not mistaken, about 40 enterprises are working on new rules».
