The amount of cattle has been increased by 1.8% and pigs by 1.9% in 2012
The results of 2012 show that the State Cattle Breeding Revival Programmes have worked efficiently in Ukraine. Thus, the number of cattle has been increased by 78.1 thousand heads or 1.8%. Besides, an increasing situation was observed in pigs industry last year. In particular, the number of pig has been increased by 142.6 thousand heads or 1.9%. This was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
«Today we feel confident that the results of the programmes and approaches taken by the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine during last years in the animal industry give efficient and successful results. The figures of 2012 show that it has been consolidated the tendency of gradual meat and milk cattle breeding increase. So, the number of cattle heads has been increased by 78.1 thousand heads or 1.8%. In general, as on January 1st, there are 4503.9 thousand heads of cattle in all types of farms in Ukraine», Mykola Prysyazhnyuk mentioned.
The Minister has also informed that in 2012 the number of pig has been increased by 142.6 thousand heads or 1.9% and it is 7515.8 thousand heads. Moreover, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk has pointed out that the increase of cattle provokes its sale increase.
«In 2012 it was sold 3136.3 thousand tonnes of cattle and poultry on hoof that is 104.5 thousand tonnes or 3.4% more against last year», Mykola Prysyazhnyuk added.
Besides, the Minister has mentioned that the productivity of the milk stock in the agricultural enterprises has been increased by 547kg and it is 4664 kg of milk per a cow. The average daily growth of the cattle has been increased by 24g and it is 504g, the average daily growth of pigs has been increased by 33g and it is 448g.
