Russia couldn’t substitute European cheese

Despite statements of authorities about started manufacture of similar to European cheeses in Russia and Belarus, it is impossible to fill in the volume imported from Europe.

Despite considerable jump in prices, situation is still not critical. Large stocks and decreased consumer demand have influence.

At the same time the stocks are gradually decreasing, so, prices are growing.

Byelorussians lifted the indicative prices for cheese in September, but demand has not weakened.

Cheeses of domestic and Belarusian origin are already valued at RUR 235-255/kg in Russia. Cheeses of well-known brands cost RUR 255-285/kg.

More information occurs about entering of European cheeses the market of Russia, despite sanctions. Some volumes may really be supplied illegally (for example, through Belarus). After all, the products have already been banned for almost two months, but they still offered in wholesale: Gouda/Edam — at RUR 270-280/kg, Tilsiter — at RUR 290-300/kg, Maasdam — RUR 350-370/kg.

Because of weakened RUR, the products from Latin American will not have advantages on Russian market, therefore the prices will grow further.
