Purchase prices of milk produced by individual farmers are increased by 18%

 

As of April 22, the purchase price for milk produced on the farms was increased by 18% compared to last year. Thus, according to current information from the regions the average price is 2554 UAH per ton, which is 18% higher against last year. The average price for milk produced at the enterprises is 3629 UAH per ton that is 11% more than last year. This was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

Taken into account the situation with milk last year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the min acceptable price for milk by the order № 807 dated 22.08.2012. Due to these measures it was possible to stabilize the purchase price of milk, particularly from the farms.

At the same time, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is introducing new mechanisms that will provide sustainable supplies of high-quality milk at favorable prices for the producer, processor and consumer.

«Administrative regulation of milk purchase prices is only a temporary measure. Therefore, in order to obtain economically reasonable milk price farmers should increase its marketability and find the best ways of sales. This can be achieved through the development of family farms units that use modern technologies and cooperatives creation that promote the sales without intermediaries,» Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.

At the same time, the Minister has said that the milk price produced on the farms is increased by 11% and it is 3.6 UAH per liter. The highest prices for milk of the first rate are observed in Donetsk (4010 UAH per ton), Luhansk (4000 UAH per ton), Kharkiv (4100 UAH per ton), the lowest are in Zaporizhzhya (3360 UAH per ton). The highest price for the milk of the second rate is in the Crimea (3250 UAH per ton), Donetsk (3000 UAH per ton) and Kherson (3116 UAH per ton).

Earlier, the Minister has pointed out that the main reason for a low milk purchase prices are unreasonable and uncontrolled mediators. They provoke agricultural losses.

The solution is to create cooperatives and family farms.
