Prices for fresh dairy products in Ukraine are steadily growing

Declined purchasing capacity does not prevent stable increase of prices for fresh milk products. Every month almost all operators increase the prices for basic assortment by 3-5%.

As a result in the middle of November the leading manufacturers offered in trade: 2.5% milk in cheap pouches at UAH 7.9-8.8/l, 2.5% kefir — at UAH 9.5-10.0/l, sour cream (15%) — at UAH 20-22/kg, curd (9%) — at UAH 45-53/kg.

Ukrainian producers of fresh milk products do not especially try to benefit from devaluation of UAH and to increase export. In October the country exported 4400 tonnes of the products, 3700 of which — to Crimea. Though, it is not clearly yet whether it is correctly to consider the deliveries to Crimea as export.

Import of fresh milk products remains scanty. In October it made only 500 tonnes.

November statistics will show increase of export, but probably only due to sales to Crimea. It is worth mentioning the authorities of Crimea have obtained the permission from Rospotrebnazor (Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare) for removal of restrictions on import of Ukrainian dairy products. There are probably big problems with food supply in region. As it is said: «hunger is a serious matter ».
