For the first six months of the current year export volumes of dairy products from neighboring Ukraine increased 2 times in comparison with the first half of 2016. Over that period, Moldova bought dairy products from Kiev in the amount of $ 3.3 million.

According to the Ukrainian side, the share of the Moldovan market accounted for about 44% of the total volume of deliveries of Ukrainian dairy products. After Moldova, on second place there was Georgia, on the third — Saudi Arabia.

The Republic also became the main market for Ukrainian consumers in terms of selling dairy fermented products (up to 62% of total exports). Cheese of Ukrainian production was exported to Moldova in the amount of slightly less than 4 million dollars for the period.

Earlier, the Moldovan government made the decision on introduction of restrictions on the import of Ukrainian meat and dairy products to protect the interests of Moldovan producers. Later the restrictions, perceived by Ukrainian side as «illegal and unjustified», have been cancelled.
