Since 2012 the Government introduced state support to individuals engaged into dairy cattle. Thus, farmers may receive compensations for the young cattle preservation and maintenance. Besides, farmers engaged into growth and slaughter of cattle and pigs also get state financial support. The State also partially compensates cost of individual milking installations purchase.

The Government has introduced a number of support programs for individual farmers engaged into animal husbandry. Thus, in 2013, there were three assistance directions — subsidies for the maintenance and preservation of young cattle, subsidies for the grown and sold for slaughter cattle and pigs, partial reimbursement of the purchased individual milking installations. A large number of farmers used this support. Thus, in 2013, 288,000 peasants applied for a grant for the young cattle preservation and they charged 363.6 million UAH. In 2013, 5.2 thousand peasants used partial compensations for the purchased individual milking installations and saved 21.1 million UAH. In 2013. In was introduced a new type of state support — subsidies for grown and sold for slaughter young cattle and pigs (except sows and boars). As of December 1, 2013 42,000 individuals applied to receive money for 55,000 slaughtered heads of young cattle. Such support covers farm and agricultural cooperatives. They put for slaughter over 6000 heads of young cattle and 54,000 of pigs. They received 80.9 million UAH of compensations. The Government also supports agricultural enterprises engaged into dairy cattle. Since 2010, the Government has provided them with partial reimbursement of the cost of construction and reconstruction of livestock farms and complexes, animal feed production enterprises. The budget allocated up to 50% of the completed in the current and previous two years construction and reconstruction phases, including livestock farms and complexes, which, should be for not less than 500 heads of cattle. During the period of government support, it was allocated 233.5 million UAH for partial reimbursement of the cost of construction and renovation of 21 units with total capacity of 19 thousand cows. «Over the past few years, we managed to overcome the negative trends in the livestock industry. In all categories of farms there is a stable dynamic to increase both the number of livestock and livestock production, including meat, milk, eggs. Therefore, we can speak about the efficiency and effectiveness of the Government support of beef and dairy cattle in Ukraine. This year we will also work out the ways to have a stable growth rates,» said Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
