Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and Grain Exporters have signed a Memorandum on grain export for 2013/2014 marketing year.
Due to this document, the parties agreed on cooperation at the grain market and mutual interests ensuring. The total export volumes will be determined and agreed by the parties until September 1 of the current year and written in the Annex to the Memorandum. Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food noted that the cooperation and dialogue between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and grain trading companies provide Ukraine with the leading positions at the world market and confirm the image of Ukraine as a stable player.
Currently, 8-9 % of the world’s grain trade belongs to Ukraine. At the same time, it allows to guarantee the food security of Ukraine. It should be mentioned that the state and grain trade companies have signed Memorandum on cooperation at the grain market since 2011/2012 marketing year.
It is an effective mechanism of implementation both the interests of the state concerning the need to stabilize the consumer grain market and food security and grain trading companies intent concerning export volumes planning and formation of transparent rules with the state at the grain market. According to the forecasts of the Ministry, Ukraine will export over 23 million tons of grain by the end of 2012/2013 marketing year. For the last 7 years an average export volume was 14.7 million tons. The Ministry estimates the grain export volume in 2013/2014 marketing year to be up to 24-26 million tons.
