Milk production in Ukraine was increased by 2.7% last year
In 2012 Ukraine has produced 11.4 million tonnes of milk, which is 2.7% more than last year. Thus, the increase of milk production occurred at the agricultural enterprises, which have produced 2.5 million tonnes of milk and at the farm cooperatives which have produced 8.9 million tonnes. This was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of the Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
«Last year in Ukraine it was observed a positive dynamic of milk production increase. According to the figures of 2012 it has been increased by 2.7% against last year. In general, last year it has been produced 11.4 million tonnes of milk: the agricultural enterprises have produced 2.5 million tonnes of milk and the farm cooperatives have produced 8.9 million tonnes of milk», Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said. He has stressed that currently farm cooperatives produce 78% of milk, and the peasants sell it at special food markets. So, domestic consumers have the opportunity to buy high-quality milk at a reasonable price.
«Today we are able to control the milk quality produced at the farm cooperatives and sold at special food markets. However, it has been created all conditions for Ukrainian consumers to buy high-quality and safe domestic milk. In particular, the new modern refrigeration equipment, updated laboratory equipment, trained personnel are provided», Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
The Minister has also said that farmers can produce better milk and facilitate their work due to received compensations for the purchased individual milking machines costs.
