Milk Production in 2010 down 3%

 

According to Ukrainian Committee of Statistics, in 2010 in Ukraine the decrease in the number of cows resulted in the reduction of total milk production by 3.1% (11,254.1 th t) from 2009, in private households down 3.6% and in agricultural enterprises down 0.8%.

The average milk yield per cow at agricultural enterprises was up 74 kg (+1.9%) to 4,000 kg.  The average milk yield increased from the last year in 15 regions. The leaders were Kyiv region (5,252 kg), Cherkasy region (4,836kg), Poltava region (4,573kg) and Kharkov region (4,431kg).   

Total milk production was down in all regions (except Zakarpatya region, up 1.7%). The most significant reduction in milk production was in Luhansk region (-10%) and Zaporizhya region (-8.8%).   

In private households milk production was up only in Zakarpatya region (+1.9%).
