Livestock in Ternopil region increased by 10.2%
In 2011, in Ternopil region a positive tendency in increasing of cattle and livestock production is noticed.
Construction and reconstruction of big dairy complexes gave the results, a number of cattle to the last year increased by 10.2%, including 4.9% of cows. In 2011 all categories of farms produced 418.1 thousand tons of milk and 58.4 thousand tons of meat respectively. It is 0.3 and 2.5 percent over the level of the previous year.
Currently 15 investment projects on construction and reconstruction of livestock complexes are being implemented in the region, including six for dairy cattle, with the total capacity of 6.3 thousand head, sixth for pigs with capacity of 273 thousand head, and 3 for poultry, with capacity of nearly 1.5 million birds. Implementation of investment projects will help to increase milk production by 17 thousand tons, meat production by 17 thousand tons and eggs by 35 million units.
