Intervention Fund received 900 tons of grain to provide food security
This year Ukrainian farmers have threshed 63 million tons of grain that is an absolute historical record. Thus, it has been collected 29 million tons of corn, 22 million tons of wheat, 11 million tons of sugar beet and 10 million tons of sunflower. 900 thousand tons of this harvest grain were put to the State Intervention Fund to provide food security. This was announced today by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk in a briefing at the Cabinet of Minister.
«This year grain harvest is 63 million tons. Besides, the indexes of almost all cultures are better compared to the last year,» said the Minister.
Thus, farmers have threshed over 22 million tons of wheat, 7.6 tons of barley, 29 million tons of corn, 10 tons of sunflower, 2.7 tons of soybean, 2.3 tons of rapeseed, 11 tons of sugar beet. Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said that the Agrarian Fund accumulated 900 thousand tons of this year harvest grain.
In addition, the Minister said that the Agrarian Fund began the forward purchases of grain. It buys also winter crops. The total volume of the purchases will be 1.2 million tons.
