In 2013 Ukraine will produce 2.4 million tons of meat

The consumption of meat produced in Ukraine may increase due to the increased production of beef, chicken and pork. This year it will be almost 6% more or 2.4 million tons. It was announced by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food.

«State support programs have an important positive effect both on consumers and economic. On the one hand, budget subsidies for the grown and put for slaughter animals provide farmers with cash. On the other, Ukrainians consume more meat that is domestic. Gradually, this figure will increase,» said the Minister. According to him, this year Ukraine will increase meat consumption per one person almost by 1 kilogram that is 55.3 kilograms. It is possible to have this positive tendency due to the increased domestic meat production. «By the end of this year, Ukraine will have produced 2.4 million tons of meat. This is 5.8% more against last year. Thus, the existence of the government support programs made it possible to provide livestock growth. So, we are going to expand existing programs and develop new ones», said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
