Grain export is 16.4 million tons
Rates of grain exports have significantly exceeded the indexes of the last year. Thus, at present, it has been sold abroad by almost 24% more of grain than in the 2012-2013 marketing year. In particular, it was exported more wheat, corn and oilseeds. This was announced by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
«Agrarian producers have managed to harvest 63 million tons of grain this year, which is a good prerequisite to increase export. Thus, at present grain has been exported by 3.2 million tons or 24% more than in 2012. Producers and traders were able to increase the supply of wheat by 14%, barley by almost 12%, corn by 42%, and oilseeds by 60%. In general, it was exported 16.4 million tons,» Mykola Prysyazhnyuk informed.
Countries of Asia, Africa and Europe are the most active importers of Ukrainian grain. So, the EU bought Ukrainian grain and oilseeds in the amount of 2.2 billion USD, Asian countries — 2.4 billion USD. Besides, Ukraine exported grain and oilseeds to Africa in the amount of 1.4 billion USD for 10 months.
The Minister Mykola Prysyazhnyuk also said that export slowed down slightly in January-February and began to accelerate in the early spring.
«By the end of the marketing year, we plan to export up to 32 million tons of grain. This is a record for Ukraine. The opening of new markets, including China’s one contributed to the increase of grain export,» said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
