goat milk, goat farm
From goat to cheese — it is easy

II International Goat Breeding Conference was held in Ukraine on September 7−8. The event was organized by DeLaval Company.

During the first day of the Conference Ukrainian and foreign experts shared their experience of goat breeding business: from choosing a location for the farm to the production of the quality milk products and finding the customer.

On the second day all the guests had a chance to visit the goat farm «Tatiana 2011» (Usivka village, Zgurovskiy district, Kyiv region).

It took the owners 14 months to build goat houses (or more precisely reconstruct) and get the first batch of milk products. The animals of Alpine and Saanen breeds were bought in France. Now there are 900 goats on the farm. Thanks to the processes optimization only 4 people work on the farm.

In average, milking goat gets about 2 kg of mixed feed and 1 kg of hay. This ration allows getting 3.5−4 liters of milk per day per goat. Goats are milked twice a day at 12-hour intervals.

They produce goat pasteurized milk with different fat content, kefir (fermented milk), plain bifido yogurt and yogurt with different flavours, and sour cream. All the products are sold under their own brand name «Zinka».

More information about Ukrainian and foreign experience of successful project execution of goat farms you can read in October issue magazine «Milk and Farm».
