Sowing of winter wheat, barley and rye will start in a week in Ukraine. Farmers have prepared 102% of high quality winter seeds. Besides, they have almost finished the purchase of fertilizers and fuel. In general, the sowing campaign will be 10 days. This was announced today by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Prysyazhnyuk at a press conference.

«If the weather conditions are favourable, the farmers will start winter wheat, rye and barley sowing in the second decade of September. We predict the completion of sowing in optimum agronomic terms — approximately 10 days. Currently, farmers are completing the purchase of necessary resources,» Mykola Prysyazhnyuk said.
The Minister informed that the farmers had 102 % of the required seeds. Farmers have also bought almost 80 % of mineral fertilizers. It is planned to work in two shifts.
«I would like to point out that besides technical re-equipment, high quality seeds gave good benefits. This is the key to increase productivity and get higher prices for grain. Thus, this year yield of sunflower is 30% higher than the last one. 87% of harvested wheat is food. This is high-quality grain,» said the Minister.
