Deputies propose to abolish VAT on import of breeding livestock
Volodymyr Lytvyn, speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, registered bill № 9149 on VAT abolishment of import toUkrainepure bred animals and pedigree (genetic) resources.
The bill covers horses, heifers, cows, lambs etc. According to the bill, only the residents who are identified as agricultural enterprises will be able to import animals without paying the VAT. Further transactions with imported animals will be taxed according to the general procedure.
According to Lytvyn, this norm will create conditions for increasing economic efficiency and competitiveness of animal industry due to involving and rational use of imported pure bred animals and pedigree (genetic) resources to improve the genetic quality of animals.
