Dairy market overview — August
The world dairy market is currently on the rise. Prices for milk do not grow as active as before, but there is still an increase. According to the IFCN, the world milk price indicator in July totaled $38.9/100 kg of milk, which is 55% higher than in July last year and 1.3% higher than the price of June this year.
This was reported by analyst of Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine (AVM) Yana Muzychenko.
In Ukraine, prices also increased in August. The market price was in the high trend. This was especially true for Extra Grade milk. In August, the price for it was 8.65 UAH/kg including VAT. It is 46.4% higher than last year's price.
The price for Higher Grade in August was 41.7% higher than last year and amounted to 8.16 UAH/kg. For the Grade I, the processors paid 7.87 UAH/kg (+ 38.6%).
The increase in prices became possible due to the active export trade and, consequently, the increased demand for milk. World butter prices continue to grow, which enables Ukrainian processors to work well for export and pay higher price for milk. In addition, the sector is already actively preparing for autumn and winter — everyone understand that it will be not enough milk and try to make a «margin of safety».
Growth in prices did not go away store shelves. Prices for dairy products grew in August, but marginally. In comparison with July, the price of milk with fat content 2.5%. increased by 40% to 23.92 UAH, butter added 0.88 UAH in price to 187,90 UAH/kg, and cheese — 0.30 UAH. — 168.32 UAH/kg.
The most increased in price drinking yogurt — by 1.5 UAH, and it cost 48.68 UAH/kg.
Based on world trends, it is to be expected that in the first half of September the price for milk will continue to grow up and add about 4−5% (based on the Extra Grade milk).
