According to Ukrainian Committee of Statistics, in Ukraine on February 1, 2011, cow population at agricultural enterprises totaled 588,540 head, 2.6 per cent less from the same period last year (604,100 cows). Individual households kept 2,051,400 cows on the same date, 3.8 per cent less from 2010 (2,132,600 cows).

During the year the total number of cows in Ukraine reduced by 3.5 per cent – from 2,736,700 to 2,639,900 cows.
