Belarus is purchasing European milk and cream actively
While world dairy market is in crisis conditions, Belarusian market develops not bad.
It turned out the statements of Belarusian authorities about essential increase of production were not so improbable. At least now, when raw materials are imported from Europe, the planned growth of deliveries to Russia seems to be real.
At first, raw materials were delivered from Poland and Baltic countries, now they are even bought in France. So, for two and a half weeks of September the dairy plants have got permissions for import of 128.7 ths tonnes of milk and cream until the end of 2014.
15 domestic companies have already got permissions from Belarusian authorities for purchases of European products. There are three the biggest purchasers among them: CJSC Savushkin Product plans to import 32.5 ths t of milk from Poland, OJSC Milk Company Navagrudskiya Dary – about 27 ths tonnes of raw materials from Lithuania and Latvia, OJSC Baranovichskiy DIP may import 14 ths t of milk from Lithuania.
In most cases pasteurized milk, which is used for production of cheeses, and pasteurized cream are imported.
Additionally to official import of raw materials, Belorussians do not refuse “grey” re-export of dairy products.
Russian producers already make complaints against neighbors. They say Belarus became the transit center for European dairy products, it supply cheap dairy products more and more, and in general it uses an opportunity of low competition on the market.
On the other hand, Belorussians have to be careful in the expansion on Russian market. Russian bodies have experience of import restrictions without reasonsfor the purpose of protection of home producers. There were already first alarm signals: Rosselkhoznadzor determined antibiotic residues in products of Babushkina Krynka, bacteria of intestinal stick in products of Savushkin Product Company and an increased bacterial contamination in products of Biokom.
At the same time, Belorussians understand that while there is Russia’s ban on EU food, they will trade successfully.
