The decline in the price of exchange-traded goods puts pressure on purchase prices

Prices for raw milk in Ukraine remain stable amid falling demand and falling prices for exchange-traded products, reports Georgy Kukhaleyshvili, an analyst of the Association of Milk Producers.

The average purchase price of Extra Grade milk as of September 20 was 17.45 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.10 UAH more than a month ago. The price range for this grade in farms varies from 17.00 to 18.20 UAH/kg excluding VAT. The lower limit of the price range increased by 0.10 UAH, and the upper limit increased by 0.40 UAH.

Higher Grade costs an average of 17.15 UAH/kg excluding VAT (+0.10 UAH). Prices for Higher Grade milk range from 16.80 to 17.60 UAH/kg excluding VAT. The lower limit of the price range increased by 0.50 UAH, and the upper limit increased by 0.20 UAH.

The average price for Grade I milk was 16.80 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.40 UAH more compared to the second half of last month. The minimum price in farms was 16.50 UAH/kg. The maximum price was 17.20 UAH/kg. The lower limit of the price range increased by 0.80 UAH, and the upper limit increased by 0.40 UAH.

Accordingly, the weighted average price of the three grades was 17.35 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.15 UAH more compared to the results of the previous monitoring.

Georgy Kukhaleyshvili notes that prices for raw milk have not changed since the monitoring in early September and have increased slightly compared to the second half of August. Prices remain stable, since as of the end of September, demand for finished products continues to decline and demand for raw milk from dairy processing enterprises is beginning to decline. Enterprises are working on a warehouse basis in conditions of suspension of exports to the EU, reduction of supplies to post-Soviet countries, reduction of sales of dairy products by retail chains and decrease in world prices for exchange goods.
