Analytical department of Association of Milk Producers of Ukraine announced this information.

According to the last monitoring from April 25, the average price for Extra grade milk lost 0.08 UAH/kg this week — to 8.17 UAH/kg. The average monthly price was at the level of 8.34 UAH/kg, which is 5.2%, (or 0.45 UAH/kg) less than in March.

The average price for Higher grade milk lost 0.13 UAH/kg since previous week to 8 UAH/kg. The average price for this grade of milk in April was at the level of 8.20 UAH/kg, which is 3.7% (or 0.31 UAH/kg) less than in March.

Price of Grade I has also lost 0.08 UAH/kg — to 7.80 UAH/kg. The average monthly price was 8 UAH/kg, which is 4.4% (or 0.36 UAH/kg) less than in March.

Previous year for the same period prices collapsed only by 0.01-0.05 UAH/kg, depending on the milk grade.

National currency has been stabilizing for about a month, and since the beginning of April it has strengthened by 0.57 UAH/kg to 26.59 UAH/kg. At the same time prices for diesel gas oil show completely opposite trend. Since the end of March it has added 0.66 UAH/kg in price — to 22.76 UAH/kg. The main reason was the world rise of prices for oil. This affected the cost of milk — the rise of fuel prices eliminates the effect of dollar price lowering the cost of other components (feed supplements, drugs and so on).

The issue of subsidies is already off the ground — in April subsidies paid back for December, and with much lower extent than it was promised. In addition, subsidies for January won’t be paid back at all.

Despite the collapse of milk purchase prices and stabilization of national currency prices for dairy products continued to grow during the month. Thus, price for milk with fat content 3.2% has added 0.11 UAH/kg — to 24.25 UAH/kg. Butter added 1.59 UAH/kg — to 180.90 UAH/kg, and "Russian" cheese added 2.07 UAH/kg — to 167.64 UAH/kg.
