On the eve of Maslyana, milk prices remain stable

As of March 1, 2024, the average price of raw milk was 14.19 UAH and has not changed over the past month. The price range has not changed since the beginning of February. Stabilization of milk prices in Ukraine is influenced by political and seasonal factors, says the analyst of the Association of Milk Producers, Heorhii Kukhaleishvili.

The average purchase price of Extra Grade milk as of March 1 was 14.50 UAH/kg without VAT. The price range for this variety in farms varies from 14.00 to 15.00 UAH/kg without VAT. The lower and upper limits of the price range have not changed, and the upper limit has decreased by 0.20 UAH for the last month.

Higher Grade costs 14.50 UAH/kg on average without VAT. Prices for Higher Grade milk range from 14.00 to 15.00 UAH/kg without VAT.

The average price of Grade I was 13.57 UAH/kg without VAT. The minimum price in farms was 13.00 UAH/kg, and the maximum price was 14.28 UAH/kg.

Accordingly, the weighted average price of three grades amounted to 14.19 UAH/kg without VAT.

Compared to the results of monitoring conducted in the first and second half of February, purchase prices and their minimum and maximum limits have not changed.

George Kukhaleishvili suggests that milk processing enterprises continue to refrain from revising the prices of milk due to certain uncertainty in the market against the background of talks about the introduction of a ban on the import of agricultural products from Poland to Ukraine or the temporary suspension of the movement of goods across the Ukrainian-Polish border. If such scenarios are implemented, Polish cheeses and other dairy products may disappear from the shelves of Ukrainian supermarkets. One of the reasons for a certain decrease in purchase prices for milk in Ukraine in January was too much supply of imported cheeses in the country.
