The trend of milk prices rising continues

The upward trend in milk prices continues, although the growth rate has slowed down as much as possible, said Volodymyr Andriyets, an analyst at the Association of Milk Producers.

The last monitoring showed a slight increase in average price by 0.05 UAH to 10.71 UAH/kg without VAT. At the same time, the Extra Grade milk increased in price by 0.06 UAH to 10.92 UAH/kg, Higher Grade by 0.05 UAH to 10.76 UAH/kg, Grade I increased by 0.04 UAH to 10.44 UAH/kg without VAT.

Average prices for large and medium batches of Extra Grade milk by regions:

  • north — 11.08 UAH/kg,
  • center — 11.12 UAH/kg,
  • south — 11.2 UAH/kg,
  • east — 11.0 UAH/kg,
  • west — 11.1 UAH/kg.

Volodymyr Andriyets notes that further growth in raw milk prices is still unlikely. This is due to the difficult economic situation of processors, especially against the background of rising gas tariffs for industrial enterprises. Under such conditions, processing companies are forced to raise selling prices for networks. Rising domestic prices on the shelf, which was already recorded in September, will inevitably lead to a drop in demand, otherwise it may be replaced by imported production, the volume of which continues to grow rapidly this year.
