milk grades, milk prices
Milk price monitoring — January

A few days before the end of last year, dairies were alarmed by reports of falling prices for the raw milk, initiated by a number of operators, mainly from the Dairy Alliance group, apparently mediated by the Ukrainian Dairy Union. The main argument was related to the rapid jump in energy tariffs and, as a result, low or negative profitability of final dairy production.

This was announced by Vladimir Andriets, an analyst of the Association of Milk Producers.

Literally two weeks after the price demarche, some processing companies revised the offer for individual producers in the direction of increase — in general for those who had the largest decrease in the previous. In general, the prices for the Higher and Grade I rolled back the most.

Thus, the monitoring of January 25 recorded the following average prices:

  • Extra Grade — 10.73 UAH/kg (+0.04 UAH compared to two weeks earlier) without VAT,
  • Higher Grade — 10.61 UAH/kg (+0.06 UAH) without VAT,
  • Grade I — 10.42 UAH/kg (+0.07 UAH) without VAT,
  • weighted average price of three grades — 10.58 UAH/kg (+0.06 UAH) without VAT.

Average prices for large and medium batches of Extra Grade milk by regions: north — 10.7 UAH/kg, center — 10.65 UAH/kg, south — 10.8 UAH/kg, east — 10.7 UAH/kg, west — 10.6 UAH/kg without VAT.
