Farm specializes in crop production and livestock breeding.
Total dairy herd size is 350 cows. They have the status of a nucleus center for the breeding of black and white and black and red breed. Cows are bred with holstein. There is free stall housing system at the farm.
Cows are kept in two barns — each in 4 sections for 45 heads. New drinking-bowls with heating (production of «DeLaval») were installed in the barns.
Dry cows are kept in open lots. In the warm season, animals are calving on open lots.
In 2017, the average milk yield per cow per year was 7 thousand kg. They plan to get 9 thousand kg. The average daily milk yield per dairy cow is 23 kg. Fat content is 3.7−3.9%, protein content is 3.1−3.2%. Somatic cell count — 140−180 thousand/cm3, bacterial contamination — 65−75 thousand/cm3.
Cows are milked three times a day in a reconstructed milking room «herringbone» 2×12 («DeLaval»). As long as the milking parlour does not work at full capacity, it is serviced by two operator shifts. The milk is stored in a 10-ton tank cooler.
Total milk bulk per day is 8 500 kg of Extra Grade milk.
DelPro, TMR Tracker and Uniform Agri software are used for herd management.
They produce alfalfa haylage and corn silage. Last year, 360 hectares were allocated for feed crops.
They prepare themselves feed mix, which includes corn offal, distiller's grain, sunflower meal, offals, mineral-vitamin supplements.
Also they form two rations for dairy cows, two for dry cows and three for youngstock.
Dairy cow diet includes 8 kg of alfalfa hay, 28 kg of corn silage, 1 kg of straw, 8−9 kg of mixed feed (corn offal, distiller's grain, sunflower meal, 10% mineral-vitamin supplement, salt, chalk).
Newborn calves are fed 3 liters of colostrum twice a day at the first and twelfth hours of life. Then they are transferred to individual huts, where they are till two months old. Until the 21st day, calves are fed on 3 liters of whole milk twice a day. From the 21st to the 60th day they are fed on milk replacer — 7 liters per day. From the third or fourth day of life, they are tought to drink from the buckets. Milk and milk formula are transported and dispensed with milk «shuttle», which is designed for 240 liters and serves 80 heads.
Calves are weaned when they gain 65 kg of weight and eat 1−1.5 kg of feed mix per day.
From two to six months old calves are kept in mobile sections with 16 heads. Then they are transferred to groups for 40 heads in the section.
Heifers are inseminated in 14−15 months. First calving is at age of 24−25 months.
Cows are inseminated when spontaneous heat is detected, as well as by the synchronization scheme. The decision is taken by the veterinarian. If, after the third insemination cow is not fertilized, it is not culled, but continues to be milked. The farm has cows, which have 500 days of lactation and give 30 kg of milk per day.
