Raw milk prices remain stable

In early May, Ukraine observed a certain stabilization of raw milk prices against the backdrop of renewed demand for dairy products on export markets. At the same time, given the decline in demand for dairy products on the domestic market, the prospect of an increase in purchase prices depends on how much exports will increase in the short term, — reports Georgy Kukhaleyshvili, an analyst of the Association of Milk Producers.

The average purchase price of Extra Grade milk as of May 5 was 16.12 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.03 UAH less than a month ago. The price range for this grade in farms varies from 15.50 to 16.50 UAH/kg excluding VAT and has not changed over the past month.

Higher Grade costs an average of 15.93 UAH/kg excluding VAT (-0.02 UAH). Prices for Higher Grade milk range from 15.30 to 16.20 UAH/kg excluding VAT. The lower and upper limits remained unchanged.

The average price for Grade I milk was 15.60 UAH/kg excluding VAT and did not change compared to the first half of last month. The minimum price in farms was 15.00 UAH/kg. The maximum price was 15.80 UAH/kg. The price range did not change.

Accordingly, the weighted average price of three grades was 15.97 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.03 UAH less compared to the previous period.

Georgy Kukhaleyshvili notes that at the beginning of May there was no shortage of raw milk on the domestic market of Ukraine. The supply of milk remained high, and the demand for finished products was low. Changes in the balance occurred on the market of finished dairy products against the background of an increase in export volumes. Stocks of exchange-traded goods in warehouses decreased, and this affected a certain stabilization of prices for raw milk, which almost did not change compared to the results of monitoring conducted in early April 2025. The profitability of the production of dairy products from high-quality milk improved.
