Molochni riky Ltd.

Pavlov village, Radekhiv district, Lviv region

Molochni Riky is a separate subdivision of the group of companies «Zakhidnyi Bug». The company, which was founded on the basis of Soviet dairy farms, was officially registered in 2008.

At the moment, the company consists of 3 farms: two in Ponikovytsia village (Brody district) and one in Sokal city.

All the farms are approximately the same: 300 cows and replacements (250 heads). The breed is black-and-white holsteinized.

Barns are reconstructed/renovated for fixed housing. The litter is sawdust (on the concrete base).

Early dry off cows are kept loose on deep litter. In the near future, the reconstruction of barns under loose housing of close ups is planned (calving pen) and also for fresh cows, installation of a milking parlour 1×3 or 1×4.

Milking equipment is pipeline. The average daily yield on the farms in Ponikovytsi are 26 and 27 kg, in Sokal — 30 kg of milk per dairy cow. Daily supplies for processing factory is 20 tons of milk of Higher Grade with fat content of 3,6%, protein — 3,15%.
Molochni Riky deals exclusively with the production of milk and does not have land for the production of feeds. Forages are made for order of crop department. All feeds — both forages and concentrated — are bought at a market price.

Two rations for dry cows (early and close up) and 3 rations for dairy cows are used.

For the account and management of the herd they use the program 1C, for feed management use the program Dairy Feeder.

Every month milk is examined for fat, protein, lactose, urea, and SSC. On the basis of the results, decisions are made on feeding and control of mastitis.

Farms are located close to residential buildings, so a pilot manure separation project has been launched on one of the farms to comply with environmental standards, as well as to manage manure more efficiently and use it as organic.

Calves are fed with milk and at the same time with feed mix for two months. After weaning, they are fed with total feed mix, and during the third month they are fed with mixed feed. In growing youngstock are guided by the European model, which restrains the growth of cattle so that the cows were not too large — no more than 630−640 kg.
