balances for milk
Russia and Belarus have agreed on the balances for milk
This was stated by Head of the Main Department of foreign economic activities of the Ministry of agriculture and food of the Republic of Belarus Alexey Bogdanov on the official page in Facebook.
Earlier it was reported that the Federal Agrarian Department of Russia proposes to establish quotas for the supply of milk powder from Belarus to Russia in the amount of 60 thousand tons per year. By the results of 2017 the volume of delivered milk powder from Belarus amounted to more than 100 thousand tons.
Currently, the Ministries of agriculture of the member countries of the Union state are negotiating on meat and milk markets. The first meeting took place on April 20 in Moscow, and later a number of online video conferences were held. The Departments intend to continue the negotiations after the May holidays.
«We have reached a high level of readiness of the Union state's forecast balances for milk and meat, and the Belarusian side hopes for a final agreement on the balances during the visit of the Russian delegation to Minsk, which is expected after the May holidays», stated Alexey Bogdanov at the end of April.
Today the official said that the forecast balances are agreed upon.
«I congratulate the parties on the successful conclusion of the negotiations. The balances for milk have been agreed upon! We have proved that we can hear each other and negotiate!» — Alexey Bogdanov wrote in Facebook.
Official comments of the agrarian departments of the two countries have not been provided yet. The press service of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia reported to The DairyNews the day before that «the Department does not attempt to introduce quotas for import of dairy products, including the ones from the Republic of Belarus. It is a question of coordination of annual forecast balances of supply and demand».
In addition, it was noted that during the negotiations between the departments of the two states there were worked out «common approaches to the coordination of the balances for supplies of milk powder and concentrated milk and butter from Belarus».
It should be noted that during the negotiations between Russia and Belarus the possibility of creating a single company—trader for raw milk from Belarus to Russia is also being considered. It is assumed that the company will be located in Belarus and it will monitor both the volume and quality of products supplied. The Ministry of agriculture and food of the Republic of Belarus has not confirmed the support for the initiative, but its discussion continues.
